Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention (MIP) Program

Safe Resident Handling (SRH) Workshop length: 1/2 Day

Prerequisite(s): None 

Cost: $50.00 for members / $75.00 for non-members

**Note: If both MMH and SRH are taken together as a full (1) day course, the cost will be $100.00 for members / $150.00 for non-members.

**Please note that pre-registration and receipt of payment are required prior to participation in any CCSA course.

Course Description

The MIP Program was designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to be able to transfer information, processes, and procedures contained within to the various Continuing Care facilities throughout Alberta.


The purpose of the course is to assist Alberta Continuing Care facilities in achieving the following:

  • Reduce the frequency and severity of musculoskeletal injuries
  • Reduce costs
  • Update industry programs
  • Provide a framework for program development for facilities currently struggling in this area
  • Identify specific MIP issues and needs
  • Review and deal with patient care issues during repositioning and transferring
