Course Description

The purpose of this course is to ensure that participants are well prepared to deliver the Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention – Safe Resident Handling & Manual Materials Handling workshops at their workplaces.  There is a focus on facilitation basics including: instructor preparation, introductory comments, how to set up the workshop exercises and key points to introduce.

There will be an opportunity to briefly review the workshop content which includes: your job your body, the principles of safe lifting, safe resident handling and safe manual materials handling, but the emphasis will be on practical, hands-on facilitation training.

Participants will be asked to present the workshop content throughout the course.  We provide a safe learning environment where participants can receive feedback from their peers. This course will provide participants with the knowledge and confidence required to deliver the workshop content to co-workers in their facilities.

Additionally, participants are provided with the tools required to deliver the workshops’ content, including: online access to the participant’s manuals, the workshops PowerPoint/PowerPoint(s) and participant’s handouts or workbooks, as required, and a copy of the trainer’s manual, lesson plans and additional materials to support facilitation of the workshop.
